Online Therapy
Intimacy and trust between us in a therapeutic relationship does not go away.
I am an independent psychotherapist in private practice, and I am licensed to provide online psychotherapy to residents of New York State and the State of California.

Online Therapy
It is not for everyone. However, for many, I’ve seen very good results.
I believe that online therapy does not necessarily work for everyone — and before talking about why YOU might be interested in online therapy, I would rather talking about, why I made the choice to be come an online therapist, and how I’ve found online therapy helpful for people I work with. Maybe that’ll give you a better sense about if I am the therapist you are looking for.
I currently conduct my therapeutic work 100% online. Surely, it started with COVID-19 — before starting my fully online private practice, I was a therapist and supervisor working full-time at a community mental health clinic, and I have never thought about doing therapy online myself.
It was not exciting at first; However, working with my clients in my own home for the past year, and observing them benefitting from it, did surprise me and made me change my mind.
Why I made the choice to be come an online therapist
I find myself more productive for my clients, from the comfort of my home office.
This may or may not resonate with you, and if it does, we might be a good match! — I did find myself more concentrated, calmer yet sharper, when I work from the comfort of staying in my home office.
In other words, when I was able to free myself from stress of maintaining office space, long-distance commute (no parking at all in the city, myself being late, you being late)…I became more available to YOU.
And as a therapist, I deeply understand that in order to best be there for you, I need to first make peace with my own needs, and take care of them.
I hope you take care of yourself in your everyday working life, too.
What I observed to be helpful for people who chose to work with me online
“I am feeling close to you without even seeing you in person. And I get to concentrate more on myself.”
Again, online therapy does not work for everyone. I also do acknowledge that there are challenges we need to work through, and I am aware that what worked for other people may not work for you. I am merely posting some of the thoughts from my folks, as food for thought.
One thing I’ve heard my clients telling me is that they were surprised to discover that they were able to relate and connect to another person through purely speech (I’ve got several clients who preferred phone sessions without even seeing me), and at the same time, having to express to me about themselves through speech and limited video availabilities also freed them from disruptions and fear of being judged by me, that they are able to be more introspective and concentrate more on their own progress.
How does Online Therapy Work?
I use HIPAA-complaint Zoom as our video conferencing platform. I will email you a link prior to our session. I also conduct phone sessions for those who prefer to do so. Additionally, it is advised you ensure a stable internet connection prior to your session to minimize disruptions.
How is my confidentiality kept through online therapy?
In addition to using a HIPAA-compliant video platform, my physical office for our virtual therapy is strictly private, and let’s talk about how you can find a private place, to.
I used to share dorm rooms and apartments with friends back in my school years, and I deeply relate to this challenge many faces. In this case, we all can use a little out-of-the box thinking to help you find the privacy needed for online therapy.
If you share space with others, yet have a private room or office for online therapy, I encourage you to speak with people you live or work with, about a no-disturbing hour every week. Other options my clients find useful are sitting in their cars, sitting in a private location on their back patio, and finding a bench in Central Park.
In addition, I do offer early morning appointments, as well. You can have your appointment before you have to work. This allows more opportunity for you to find a private space and time for your appointment.
What devices are needed for online therapy?
For online therapy with me, you can use a desktop or laptop computer, your smartphone, or your tablet. Just be sure the device you are using has a front-facing camera and a microphone. Headphones with a speaker attachment can also be used to improve audio quality, but they are not required.
