About Online Psychotherapy with Clarice
Hi there! I’m Clarice.
My ultimate goal as a therapist is to help you gain more control over your life.
I love helping bright professionals and artists in their 20s and 30s learn how to cope with depression, stress, to deal with self-blame, anger, anxiety and OCD, so they’re equipped for a more fulfilling life.
I also work well with individuals who have always been more curious, reflective and insight-oriented than others.
Young professionals who are going through life transitions, relationships issues, or stressful events are also a great fit for work with me.
I have intensive experience working with BIPOC/LGBTQ+ individuals, but all are welcome.
I may be different from you.
But I believe our differences can enrich our work.
Though I take pride in my culturally sensitive practice, I encourage you to reach out even if we do not seem to “share the same experiences.”
Some of my best work over the years was achieved with clients who seemed totally unlike me. Immense growth can occur when we have to exit the comfort zone that is assuming the other already knows everything about us.
Being a therapist and a friend to many, and a wife to someone that shares a radically different background, always reminds me that, no matter how different we appear to be, we are all capable of understanding and connecting to each other.
I can work with individuals 18 and older in New York State. Online.
How Do Online Appointments Work?
I use HIPAA-complaint Zoom as our video conferencing platform. I will email you a link prior to our session.
I also conduct phone sessions for those who prefer to do so, or do not have access to secure internet connection.
I’m based in New York, and see many clients in my town, as well as all over the state. I’m also able to see clients for online therapy in Mainland China, as well as the State of Illinois.
I take my work very seriously, because I know you will too.
Anger, depression, anxiety, and OCD not only make you “less productive,” but they inhibit you from leading a fulfilling life.
You are curious about existential issues concerning death, choices, freedom, your identity, or the ultimate question: what do I want? I am no guru and cannot answer it for you, but I’m confident I can help you find your own answers.
I want to share some of my answers. I want to relate, love, and connect to fellow human beings in an authentic way. I want the same for you.
I remember what it feels like to be an anxious, angry, and depressed young adult.
I believe Knowing yourself is the key.
Prior to becoming a therapist, I was a patient first. I empathize with what you’re going through, but I want you to have hope, because therapy helped me change my life.
This might not make sense right now, but fundamentally, when we do not know ourselves, and do not know how our past makes us who we are at present, our symptoms emerge.
And when we know ourselves —where we come from, how we became who we are today—we better understand what we need to do.
At the same time:
Learning skills is as important as knowing yourself.
But we aren’t just talking about your history to give you insight. Although you may feel worse before you feel better, I do not want you to leave your sessions feeling devastated and overwhelmed.
I hope you leave each therapy session with tools you can use to handle your emotions right now and as you move on, long after therapy has ended. When we talk about toolbox building, my approach is open, warm and creative, but it’s also based on evidence-based research.
About Me
I am a therapist and an artist, and long time ago, I was a business student.
I am currently a therapist in full-time private practice. Prior to my private practice, I was a therapist and supervisor at one of the largest mental health clinics in New York City, and have used different therapy modalities to help people who are seriously mentally ill, homeless, and who are victims of physical and sexual abuse.
When I am not doing therapy, I am an artist. View my online personal gallery here.
And long time ago, I was a young girl who was born in a very financially privileged family in China, and who happened to be talented in arts and literature. Despite of my desire to study Liberal Arts, I was sent to Fudan University, a top Chinese Business School, by my parents. I no longer am, but I remember how I was feeling extremely unhappy, anxious and depressed across those years.
